Myanmar Egress (ME) was founded in 2006 with the specific purpose of contributing to the development of a democratic State in Myanmar by promoting democratic values and fostering a democratic culture. The ME’s principal activities include research and offering training courses which are designed to build the people’s intellectual capacity.
In present day Myanmar preparations are being made to facilitate citizens’ participation in politics, especially in the civilian party politics, on the basis of the new Constitution.
In light of this emerging political situation, the Myanmar Egress is also taking all necessary preparatory steps towards broadening its scope of activities and widening its base of stakeholders, inspired to contribute to the national political mission of building the country.
Because the Myanmar Egress is determined to help build the capacity of Myanmar society at large it is prepared to assist any citizen who values capacity building and seeks Myanmar Egress’s assistance accordingly. Here the Myanmar Egress is of the opinion that it is crucial for the organization to explain clearly to all stakeholders within Myanmar society that the Myanmar Egress has no hidden agenda, (organizationally or in terms of its leading individual organizers and founders). This will, it is hoped, prevent any future misunderstanding and misconception about Myanmar Egress’ sole and genuine mission for national development through capacity building.
The Myanmar Egress would like to unequivocally inform all stakeholders that the organization in no way intends to allow its original mission or organization to evolve into a political party, despite the new political environment wherein many civil society organizations can easily be upgraded into political parties. Furthermore, no individual ME founder or leading member will engage in any partisan politics or participate in political parties.
